      "Sis Gardner is a self-taught artist distinguished by her ability to create unique artworks using a variety of styles and expressive mediums on fabric. Currently residing in Geelong, Sis finds inspiration in the details of texture, intricate patterns, and the female form.

​

Her recent works focus on female portraiture, offering an intimate and sensitive perspective on beauty, awareness, and reflection. The artist aims to highlight the inner beauty of women, their intuition, and deeper thought processes, seeking to forge an emotional connection with the viewer. The ultimate goal is to evoke a personal connection in the observer, inviting them to discover stories within the details and penetrative gazes of her paintings, and honour women in a deeper way.

Her original illustrations come to life through the skilled use of graphite, charcoal and acrylic on printed linen and cotton fabrics. This choice is not arbitrary: Sis found inspiration in old upholstery samples destined for waste, recognising the potential of these still vibrant and valuable textiles. By using them as backgrounds for her works, the artist not only helps reduce waste but also conveys an important ecological message through her art, demonstrating that creativity can also be sustainable and environmentally respectful".
